We have all dozed off over a book. A quick nudge lets you stand up, splash some water on your face, and get back to it.
A few seconds of sleep behind the wheel is dangerous. Doze Alert is a reminder to pull over and rest. It's a student project, not a certified safety device.
Frames from your webcam are read right inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded or saved.
One looks at your eyes and yawns (Awake, Eyes Closed, Yawning, Nobody). The other looks at your head position (Awake, Drowsy, Nobody). Both were trained with Google Teachable Machine.
When both models agree you look drowsy for a few seconds (or one model for longer), a loud siren, a spoken wake-up, and a full-screen warning kick in. Sit up and it stops.
Sit facing the camera with your face well lit, press start, then close your eyes and let your head drop for a few seconds to see what happens.
The camera is off. Press Start checking to begin.
Turn your volume up first. A web page can't change your phone's volume or silent mode, so press "Test alarm sound" to check you can hear it. Switch off silent mode and Do Not Disturb while checking.
Your video is processed inside this browser and never uploaded. On a phone, the screen stays awake while checking.
Press Start checking and allow the camera.
Fills while you look drowsy. At 100% the alarm goes off.
I'm an MCA student with a BCA background, and I build web projects with Python, Django, and JavaScript. I'm exploring cybersecurity, cloud, and open source, and technology is where I'm headed.
Before this, I worked as a dubbing project manager, coordinating multilingual projects for streaming platforms and theatrical releases. I have also hosted events, written scripts, and been part of IEEE and college activities. I won 3rd place in my college's "Blank Page" coding contest.
I made Doze Alert for the BUILD WITH ML competition by Coding Connoisseurs, University of Lucknow. I wanted to take something every student knows (falling asleep mid-study) and turn it into a working machine learning project.
